The Streets of San Francisco

Recently, I travelled to San Francisco for the first time. It was an incredible city (strangely similar to Vancouver) and I took a lot of photos while I was there. Here are some of the best shots to share with everyone!

Everything was taken on an iPhone and most were taken on Alcatraz. Alcatraz was a sad place to be -- it's weird to think that a former prison is a popular tourist attraction yet most people would be terrified to go anywhere near a functioning one. I met a former inmate, Bill Baker, while I was there because he was signing/selling a book he wrote about his time in Alcatraz. I asked him what he thought about people taking selfies (cell-fies?) in the former cells and whether he considered this tacky. He just laughed and said that as long as he gets money out of being there, he doesn't really care what people do.

Harbour view on the way back from Alcatraz Island. A purple sunset that becomes strangely less purple the longer you look at the photo.

Alcatraz Island view of... somewhere. I'm not very familiar with California cities/towns so I'm not actually sure what we're looking at here.

Alcatraz solitary confinement cells. Getting this photo with no people in it took about 5 minutes of patiently standing and waiting. There is definitely someone just off the edge of frame that is about to walk in.

Some other cool features of San Francisco included a bunch of touristy shops in Chinatown where they don't judge you too badly if you sit down in the middle of the store because your feet hurt too much to continue walking.

We went to a tea shop while in Chinatown and the salesman was so nice I bought $15 of tea that I wasn't planning on getting. He was really friendly, okay???

My mom and I spent about 10 minutes taking photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Then we realized this is actually a completely different bridge and we were on the wrong side of the city. At least this is a nice photo!

All in all, I would give San Francisco an A+ because it was so nice to be there and I got lots of beautiful photos!
