Mamma Dorme

Length: 12 M 15 S

Director: Daniela Lucato

Filmed alongside Vieni (see Day 2 selections), Mamma Dorme is a slow burn story of a woman stuck between memory and reality. She moves freely between the present moment and scenes from her past as she mixes memories of her father with the experiences of every day life. This film manages to feel like a memory itself, using a black and white style to create a strong sense of nostalgia. Watching this film will make you feel like you’re remembering a dream you once had or like you’re recalling a memory you'‘d completely forgotten about.

The cinematography of this film is one of the standout features. The camera and lighting feel natural, allowing audiences to fall into the story and blur the line between fiction and reality. Every frame is beautiful. It’s clear that director Daniela Lucato had a strong vision and a great sense of how to convey that in an end product.
