What do you get when you cross the whimsy of animation with the bizarreness of an indie darling? Miranda July’s Kajillionaire. Not everyone will like this movie but that’s kind of the point of it. July has a quiet kind of confidence that only makes us more excited to see what else she can bring to the big screen.

Booksmart | The Perfect High-School Night
Where past versions of this film typically feature the same, unpopular-and-aspiring-to-date-the-hot-girl male lead, Booksmart instead chooses to focus on something more realistic and fresh. Something fun. If you’ve ever listened to Ribs by Lorde and felt a glow of nostalgia in your heart, this is the film version of that feeling.
