Multimedia artist PD Packard has created a collection of visual poetry in this short film. She uses a variety of animation styles to create what feel like living collages to tell the story of the importance of unconditional love over unconditional romance. These vignettes also emphasize the power nature has to heal and promote caring amongst communities.
What we loved most about equal the difference: universal LOVE was how it felt like artworks come to life. These vignettes were able to use movement and visuals in tandem to fully take advantage of both the video and flat animation mediums. The way animation and live action are interlaced and overlaid gives the sense of a surrealist dream that ebbs and flows from one scene to the next.
